DHA Director-General meets the medical advisor to the French President at the Elysee presidential palace in France

• Collaboration to tackle, research and combat infectious viruses discussed.
• The two sides will also extend their cooperation in the field of medical education.

 
Paris, France, February 25, 2014: His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor recently met with Professor Olivier Lyon, medical  advisor to the French President at Elysée presidential palace in France.

The two sides discussed important healthcare issues and means of cooperation in various medical fields particularly for medical security and  combatting infectious diseases.

Lyon praised the phenomenal growth of the UAE and said: “ The French Government will spare no effort to work with the Dubai government to follow and trail infectious viruses so as to prevent outbreaks and track viruses via satellites so that we can effectively deal with them. This partnership is important for both sides and as Dubai lies on the borders of Africa and Asia, with regard to viral exchange, it is important to begin building the infrastructure and research facilities to tackle infectious viruses. We are pleased to collaborate in this regard.”

In addition to collaborating  to tackle infectious viruses, the two countries discussed cooperation in the field of medical education.

Lyon said: “ We will provide complete support to medical students from the UAE who come to study in universities in France.”

Al Maidoor explained the Dubai Health Sector Strategy 2025 which is line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a hub for medical tourism. It is also aligned to HH Sheikh Mohammed's Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and the aim is to provide the population of Dubai and visitors with access to internationally-recognised levels of healthcare

He also discussed the Authority's e-government and smart government initiatives.

Al Maidoor is expected to meet several high-ranking officials  in France before proceeding to Netherlands and Germany. The DHA delegation headed by Al Maidoor includes Eng. Ali Al Mazyood, Dr. Khaldoon Nabhan, Dr. Alya Al Mazrouei, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Jassmi, Dr. Mansoor Nazari, Dr Philippe Macaire Dr. Mona Al Mazrouei, Mr. Ahmad Al Umari, Abdulrahman Al Owghani, Dr. Zeyad Alrais, Dr. Jamal AlMulla, Dr. Bilal El Yafawi, and Mahmoud Yousef.
