Eton Institute's 'Toy Drive' brought smiles across the faces of more than 100 underprivileged children, this Festive Season.
Dubai, 26th December 2013 – Instructors, students, staff and patrons alike played the role of Santa's elves and contributed generously to the 'Toy Drive' organized by Eton Institute to distribute toys to more than 100 underprivileged children in the UAE. The toys were handed over to two prime institutions in the UAE; Senses and EWA'A.
Senses Residential and Day Care Centre, a completely non-profit organisation, is the first and only residential care facility for special needs in the UAE and the Middle East. Senses provides a home with round-the-clock care for children who need special therapies offering them rehabilitative and educational programmes, as well as a nurturing environment where they can develop new skills and improve their abilities.
EWA'A is a shelter for Women and Child victims of human trafficking and physical exploitation, trying to bring smiles back to victims' faces and revive their sense of dignity. They work to rehabilitate and develop the victims and their surrounding environment. The centre also implements sustainable awareness plans and programmes for individuals to better understand the seriousness of human trafficking and the need to protect against it.
“When we initiated the toy drive we had aimed to collect a bagful of toys to be distributed to the chosen charities. However we were overwhelmed by the response that our toy drive has generated. People just poured in their warmth and generosity by leaving brand new unwrapped toys to make a little child's Christmas a special one. We would profusely like to thank each and every one who has contributed to this cause and helped make a difference,” commented Sakina Amerjee, Public Relations Executive at Eton Institute.
