Company wins the prestigious ‘Best Presentation' award
Dubai 23rd November 2013: Ducab, one of the largest manufacturers of power cables and copper products in the Middle East, was recently among the chosen few invited by Siemens to the 2nd Siemens Cable Summit 2013, held at Siemens' global headquarters in Erlangen, Germany, under the banner “Sustainable Competitiveness - Think 2020!”.
The Siemens Cable Summit 2013 was dedicated to the importance of sustainability while retaining economic and industrial competitiveness. The highlight of the summit from Ducab's perspective was a presentation given by Mr. Ashish Chaturvedy, the Marketing Manager of Ducab. This presentation was voted by the Siemens delegates as the best, and Ducab subsequently received the ‘Best Presentation' at the summit, which concluded with an award ceremony, attended by a few of Siemens' Board Members at their grand auditorium.
The participation by Ducab in the summit was intended to strengthen the partnership with Siemens. The intention was to understand and share common objectives between the companies, and foster an open communication in the development of new products and services. Participation in such a summit for the second time, gave both Siemens and Ducab the opportunity to promote sustainability in terms of business support and also to review the logistical advantages going forward, especially for cables manufactured by Ducab HV, thus adding value to both companies' track records.
Colin McKay, Ducab's General Manager for Sales and Marketing, who headed the Ducab delegation at the summit, made the following comment about the event: “Siemens has built up a reputation as one of the world's biggest and most renowned engineering companies and thus it was an honour for Ducab to be invited to participate in this summit. Ducab has had several opportunities in the GCC region to share knowledge and experience in project supply management with the German multinational.”
McKay continued: “We believe that our participation in this summit will greatly benefit the company going forward, as we engage in knowledge sharing and innovation with a firm of Siemens' experience, size and status.”
“Furthermore, we at Ducab, are extremely proud that one of our valued employees, Mr. Ashish Chaturvedy, was adjudged to have delivered the best presentation at the summit, a reflection of the quality Ducab stands for,” he added.
Ashish Chaturvedy, Marketing Manager of Ducab, also took time to acknowledge his reception of the ‘Best Presentation' award: “There is no doubt that it was valuable enough in itself for me to be given the opportunity to be involved with the prominent delegates in the Siemens Cable Summit 2013, but to receive this prestigious award is a particular honour.”
Ducab's Global Key Account Manager, Deb Mazumdar, who initiated the cable supply partnership with Siemens Energy segment from 2002 onwards, pointed out that Ducab's participation in Siemens' projects in the GCC has shown a steady growth over the years. This culminated with Ducab HV recently winning a supply contract with HV cables to a Kuwaiti project of national importance. He is optimistic about the future association with other Siemens business segments such as infrastructure and cities, as well.
Ducab is a renowned name throughout the Middle East, with an expected sales turnover to exceed Dh5bn in 2013. The company employs individuals from 29 different nations across the five sites that the company operates in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Ducab's manufacturing capacity runs to 180,000 cable tonnes of high, medium and low voltage, (105,000 conductor tonnes) – making it one of the largest manufacturers in the Gulf region.
