Ambulatory Healthcare Services to Roll-out Campaign at Al Rowdah Healthcare Center

Initiative Seeks to Inform Women on Health Issues and Address Individual Concerns
Abu Dhabi-UAE: October 19, 2013 – Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a part of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), is set to host the first women's awareness campaign at the Rowdah Healthcare Center from October 21 - November 28.
The initiative aims to promote women's well-being in the community and reiterate the importance of early diagnosis of terminal diseases such as cancer in women of all ages. In addition, AHS will showcase its latest technology and service offerings in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology at the SEHA-run healthcare centers.
Dr Iftetah Ali, Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist at AHS, said: “October is usually commemorated as the “Pink Month” for raising awareness on breast cancer worldwide. However, we have extended our campaign to November to ensure that all other essential health issues related to women are also taken into consideration. The campaign will address common misperceptions women have about their wellness, and highlight early detection of diseases that is vital to survival.”
The awareness campaign will be conducted by a qualified medical team under the supervision of Dr. Iftetah. Aimed at providing consultation to patients on various medical issues that range from cervical and breast cancer screening to polycystic ovarian syndrome and amenorrhea to menopause and pre-menstrual syndrome, the campaign will also address menorrhagia, infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome and family planning.
Open to both walk-in patients and those with pre-arranged appointments at the Rowdah Healthcare Centre, the awareness initiative will offer pelvic examinations, pap-smear tests, clinical breast examinations, as well as a pregnancy and parental care workshops.
Dr Iftetah added: “This endeavor reaffirms AHS' commitment to providing superior healthcare services to the community to ensure its general health and wellbeing. Through such programs, we hope to reduce the cultural sensitivities or stigma attached to women's health problems that often stop them from seeking medical advice. We would like to reassure all our women patients that they have nothing to fear and must address health issues to get treated and live as productive individuals.”
