Pink Caravan partners with ADCB for unique fundraising scheme

ATM donations to benefit cancer charity

7th  October 2013: Pink Caravan, the pan-UAE breast cancer awareness initiative by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) charitable society, has announced that it will benefit from a unique fundraising initiative by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) this October.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness month, ADCB has pledged its support to the breast cancer charity through its ATM donation programme. Forming part of the bank's greater breast cancer awareness drive, the programme will enable ATM users to make a donation to Pink Caravan while transacting.

Money raised through this initiative will help Pink Caravan provide life-saving education, screening and support services to cancer patients and their families across the UAE. The programme will also serve as a platform for introducing the charity and its services to a wider audience.

Pink Caravan provides vital early detection education and practical medical support that is imperative to beating breast cancer. Commenting on the collaboration between Pink Caravan and ADCB, Secretary General for the Friends of Cancer Patients charitable society and Head of the Pink Caravan's Medical and Awareness committee, Dr. Sawsan Al Madhi, said, “ADCB has become recognised as an established corporate patron of breast cancer awareness and education over the past three years and this collaboration represents a great opportunity for Pink Caravan to raise significant awareness and funds – two critical elements in our fight against breast cancer. Thanks to the relentless support from the private and public sectors, Pink Caravan has been able to increase its outreach many times over.”  

While this type of donation scheme is relatively new worldwide, it has been successfully utilised by charities in the UK and USA for several years and is aimed at making charitable contributions a part of everyday life. Consumers can make a donation to Pink Caravan while withdrawing cash or checking their balance at any of ADCB's 300 ATM's, or when transacting via the internet.
