UAE Paralympic Committee hosts CPISRA meeting at Al Bustan Centre and Residence

Organized the Table Cricket workshop for athletes with cerebral palsy

Dubai, UAE (September 25, 2013): Al Bustan Centre and Residence, the popular hotel apartment among visiting tourists and businessmen in the heart of Dubai, was the venue for Executive Committee meeting of Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CPISRA) hosted by UAE Paralympic Committee.

Koos Engelbrecht, President of the CPISRA led the Executive Committee meeting which was held for the second time in four years in Dubai at the hotel. The UAE Disabled Sports Federation, which is an associate of the property, organized the meeting. The federation also conducted a Table Cricket workshop for athletes with cerebral palsy which is relative new sport and is mainly for athletes with high support needs.

We always seek opportunities to work as partner with the associations which work towards promoting sports among people with disabilities in the UAE. By doing this, we get a chance to reach out to this community and create much needed awareness and support for the disabled sports in the region.”

The CPISRA is an international governing body for sports for athletes with cerebral palsy, and athletes with similar disabilities resulting from other neurological disorders such as stroke or traumatic brain injuries. It has also lined up many sports activities namely Boccia, 7-a-side Football and Athletics.
