Get back to Good Habits!
Welcome back to those who have been away and I hope you all had a wonderful time.
Summer often brings a change of routine that can affect our eating and exercise habits. Many of us will see and feel the extra kilos on our bodies.
If you need that extra help and support to get you back on track all you need to do is return to Good Habits.
"Stop wishing - start doing"
Top Tips
Back from your summer break or just ready now to eat healthily and lose any excess kilos? Here are eight things you should do before you start losing weight!
Be prepared: Planning is crucial. Work out all your meals for a week, and then make a list.
Lose the “treats” : Make sure your kitchen is completely free from your unhealthy treats. This way there's nothing close by to tempt you when you're having a weak moment.
Ditch the "don'ts": Don't ban food, when you tell yourself, ‘no pasta', your brain focuses on pasta and you're likely to end up eating more of it than if you allow yourself the odd treat.
Seek out support : Getting support is vital. Explain to loved ones why this is so important to you and how much it means to have their encouragement. You can turn exercise into a group activity, eat together and ask them not to eat junk food in front of you. Join Good Habits for a weekly weigh-in and motivational talk to help you stay on track and be accountable.
Map it out : According to a recent study from New York University, mentally mapping out your slimmer future could help you stick to your intentions and follow them through. Try focusing, not just on slimming, but on how you want to do it and in as much detail as possible.
Get goal-orientated l: Have a target weight or dress size – it's a great motivator. Think of a realistic time frame to achieve it and break that down into short-term targets so you're not overwhelmed. Aim for an achievable loss of 1 – 2 lb a week and begin with small changes you can maintain.
Love your labels : For most of us, it's not realistic to cook from scratch every day. So when buying processed food, look for labels with 3g or less fat and 5g of added sugars per 100g to help maintain your weight loss.
Maximise your motivation : Be prepared for when your willpower wanes. Create a list of the reasons you want to lose weight, such as a health reason or looking great in a bikini. That way you can read it at any low moments to help keep you motivated.
