MDX Team Wins at global CIMA GBC Final in South Africa

Middlesex University Dubai's team Pinnacle, the Middle East winner of the CIMA Global Business Challenge, has won thePeople's Choice Video Competition, at the GBC 2013 finals in South Africa last week.
The team, consisting of Chitra Idnani, Madhuri Kumar, Lakshmi Sreekumar and Mohammed Baseer, represented the entire region at the finale. More than 11,0000 people voted for Team Pinnacle's video, representing 40% of the total vote. The students developed the concept for the video and put it together with support from SAE, which helped with the filming and editing. Team member Lakshmi Sreekumar was also nominated as one of the three finalists in the individual category for the GBC Future Business Leader, out of 96 participants at the finals.
Dr Vijaya Kumar, Senior Lecturer in Accounting, who accompanied team Pinnacle to South Africa as their mentor, commented: “The field was competitive right from the start and the team worked very hard. Their unwavering commitment, tireless preparations and positive attitude got them through to the end of an amazing journey that started six months ago. The team won admiration and praise from the judges for their excellent performance. They were outstanding ambassadors for the university, the UAE and the whole region.”
The GBC is an annual competition organised by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and this year's event was the seventh installment, with more than 4,500 participants from across the globe.
