Ajman University celebrates the induction of new students

Every institution of education offers a day to students, to acquaint themselves with the new life they are about to begin but at Ajman University we “celebrate” this day in style. Students were welcomed at AUST campus for the new academic year 2013 -2014 at a ceremony hosted under the supervision of Student Affairs Department at Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibition.

The event began with the National anthem and the recitation from the verses of the Holy Qoran. It set the ideal mood for what was to follow, a speech by Mr. Osama Saeed Salman, Vice-President of AUST who welcomed the students in both English and Arabic to break the ice with the freshmen. He reiterated the growth of Higher Education in the UAE under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, UAE Vice-President  and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and the University Patronage of Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman. These Leadership icons have provided the beacon for AUST as an excellent institution of education and over the course of the last 25 years, AUST has graduated over 25 thousand students who hold the high values of excellence and success instilled in them.

He pointed out to students' that a vital link to their success lay in connecting their goals to the society and community that they would one day serve. His wise advice summed up the spirit of college life “Try something new. Have time for yourself. Don't be afraid to fail. Challenge yourself. And with these actions, you will find a sense of belonging. None of you will have the same college experience, and for that reason it is important that you find what it is that YOU enjoy”.

This was followed by a motivating speech by Engineer Mohammed Baloolah, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering – Bio Medical Department.  He presented his own example and his journey from a student at AUST to a faculty member. He urged them to start working and planning for excellence and creativity; beginning on the first day of college and seek all that AUST has to provide in order to light up the path of knowledge for its students.

Then the members of the Faculty of College of University Requirements and Academic Counseling familiarized the students with the rules and regulations at the university, which was then followed by an interactive session of raffle draw. The students were pleasantly surprised to find a coupon number in the bags given to them on the entrance of the halls, the students then enjoyed speculating the next winner and electronic gadget to be won.

A scrumptious brunch later the students were then taken for a tour of the campus along with bilingual guides to assist the freshmen feel at home.
