Abu Dhabi-UAE: 29 July 2013 - Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), responsible for the development of quality infrastructure and raising awareness on quality in Abu Dhabi, has launched a new service to verify the accuracy of weighing bridges used in the measurement of large loads.
QCC has designated a private vehicle to carry out checks of weighing bridges in Abu Dhabi. Operated under the supervision of the Legal Metrology department, the vehicle is manned by inspectors and management from the Consumer and Market Services Department who are authorised to verify the readings of weighing bridges.
Khalaf Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Director of Legal Metrology at QCC, said: “The verification service aims to contribute to the empowerment of fair trade in the industrial sector, which depends on imports of large quantities and dimensions that require regular monitoring and controlling.
“The verification initiative that has been rolled out in Seih Shoaib, Mussafah, Ghuwaifat, and Khatam Al Shukla seeks to ensure that the weighing bridges used in Abu Dhabi comply with the mandated technical, metrological, and legislation requirements.”
QCC invites suppliers of weighing bridges for large loads to take advantage of the newly launched service. For registration and more information, suppliers from various sectors may contact Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council on 800555 or write to contact@abudhabi.ae
QCC's launch of the verification service for weighing bridges underscores its commitment to safeguarding consumers and suppliers. It also validates its priority to build consumer trust through the promotion of fair trade and competitiveness in the marketplace besides boosting the infrastructure to facilitate sustainable development.
The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to raise the quality of Abu Dhabi's exports and products traded locally. In addition to protecting the interests of the emirate's consumers, the body is mandated to support its competitive economy and integration into the global marketplace. This is achieved through enabling regulators to establish and implement product safety, legal metrology and conformity schemes.
QCC also sets guidelines and benchmarks to identify and verify that the products manufactured and traded in the emirate conform to the highest quality standards. QCC's board consists of various regulators and representatives from the private sector and the industry.
