Abu Dhabi Police handled 1,652,000 passengers in first 6 months

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, July 9th 2013 [ME NewsWire]: As many as 1,652,047 travelers have crossed the Ghuwaifat Border point, arriving and departing, during the first six months of this year, according to Brigadier Dr. SaifSalim Al Ameri, Director General of Security and Ports Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Police. Brigadier Dr. Al Ameri also stated that the number of transactions in this period totaled 840,225 arrivals, while the number of departing individuals amounted to 822,000.
Brigadier Dr. Al Ameri noted that the number of personnel at the border point has been increased to receive pilgrims traveling towards the Holy Land during Ramadan, and to meet the needs of travelers by land in general.
He also indicated that the completion of travel procedures only takes few minutes. “The Abu Dhabi Police provides high-end police and humanitarian services and quick completion of procedures with a view to facilitate the smooth flow of passenger arrivals and departures,” stressed Brigadier Dr. Al Ameri.
Furthermore, he added that the Ghuwaifat Border point is currently witnessing an increase in passenger traffic; many people are traveling to spend the summer vacation in their homelands. Conversely, the border point is also receiving visitors entering the country for the purpose of tourism or visiting relatives.
“The border point is equipped with the necessary means of comfort for passengers, including waiting rooms, passports cabins, modern driveways, and other facilities needed by travelers. There are also ambulances equipped with the latest technology and medical personnel,” he added.
Concluding, Brigadier Dr. Al Ameri emphasized that the various police entities and civil units working at the border point offer a wide range of humanitarian, logistical and organizational services for travelers. He lauded the joint cooperation with various entities within and outside the port that offer the means of comfort and the finest and fastest services for travelers.
