Ivo Oliveira Wins in France, takes Yellow Jersey

Prologue victory for Portuguese specialist
26th May 2023: Ivo Oliveira took one of the biggest victories of his career on the stage one prologue of the Boucles de la Mayenne.
The former Portuguese time trial champion blitzed the 4.2km course around Laval – Espace Mayenne, clocking a time of 5’17 with an average speed of 46.5kmph.
The win was a double victory as the 26-year-old also pulls on the yellow jersey heading into stage 2.
Oliveira: “I’ve been focusing on this stage for the past month that I’ve been thinking about this TT and I’ve been working really hard towards it. I knew it was a kind of effort that suited me as it’s similar to a track effort and so knew I could be in with a shout of winning.
It’s my first victory with the team since winning the Portuguese TT champs some years ago so I couldn’t be more happy. Now we will try to defend the yellow.”
