Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 14, 2023:  The Dubai Health Authority( DHA) is actively participating in UAE Reading Month, which is celebrated in March every year.

 His Excellency Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, highlighted that it is an important celebration that aims to fulfil the UAE leadership's endeavour to establish a culture of science and knowledge among its people and promote further intellectual growth in society.

He highlighted the importance that the authority attaches to keeping pace with the directions and vision of the country.
He said that UAE aims to promote the culture of reading among members of society to consolidate a culture of science and knowledge, and to make reading a daily practice as it contributes to building a generation aware and able to keep pace with the future. 
 
 Al Ketbi highlighted that the UAE Reading Month provides an opportunity to create an environment for its employees to read and build a knowledge society. He highlighted the role of reading in sustainable professional development.
 
 DHA organized a series of activities including a knowledge session with His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Cultural Advisor to the Government of Dubai and Managing Director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) who discussed his experience in historical research in Dubai.

 Al Ketbi, senior DHA members as well as employees attended the session. 
 
Khalid Jallaf, Director of the Data Analysis, Research & Studies Department at the DHA discussed the importance of inculcating a culture of reading as well as reading for academic growth and development. 
He said the activities organized for reading month include a number of sessions, lectures, competitions and seminars on various topics related to reading, the history of Arabic calligraphy and its impact on cultures, workshops for creative writing, and a dialogue session on sound sleep.  
Activities also included a  reading session of the book 'How to Sleep', which provides science-based solutions for sleeping through the night.
DHA also organized a reading challenge among the Authority's employees.
The activities also include a book fair that will continue until the end of the month and the launch of DHA's electronic medical library for registered health professionals in Dubai.
