PRINCIPAL’S QUOTE
Nargish Khambatta, Principal, GEMS Modern Academy and Vice President – Education, GEMS Education: “This has truly been the ‘Batch of stoics’ and we’ve been amazed at their resilience and ability to stay calm and work around any situation they faced. We are so proud of every single one of them, as they have all been such troopers!
“Besides getting sterling results, students like Shreyas Sharma, who has been admitted to Stanford University, achieved so much on their own merit through the pandemic period – Shreyas founded the Emirates Debate Society, with over 400 members from 48 schools, and was a member of the UAE Debate Team 2022. There are so many heartening stories to share, and on behalf of our entire school community I extend our congratulations to all our future positive changemakers.
“A big shout out, too, to our DP Coordinator and Supervisor, who helped students navigate the process and, along with our teachers, motivated students and kept their morale high. Their role needs to be acknowledged and celebrated.”
HEAD OF DP QUOTE
Dr Sunipa Neogi, IBDP Coordinator, GEMS Modern Academy: “Modern’s seventh set of IB Diploma Programme results is outstanding. Of the 87 candidates registered for the May 2022 session, 77 are Diploma candidates and 10 are Course candidates. The average overall point score obtained by Diploma candidates was 36.1 points. In addition, 25% of our candidates achieved 40 points or higher, 50% achieved 35 points or higher and 93.5% achieved 30 points or higher. Our topper is Kushal Sodum, who secured 45 out of a maximum of 45 points.
“Congratulations to all our students and teachers on a wonderful two-year journey together towards these excellent outcomes. The journey has been full of unexpected experiences, which they turned into opportunities. We wish all of them good luck and success as they move onto the next stage of life.”

TOPPER QUOTE
Kushal Sodum, student at GEMS Modern Academy, achieved an IBDP score of 45 out of 45, heading to University of Michigan in the US to study Mechanical Engineering: “It feels crazy. I never expected this in my wildest dreams. You can’t expect something like this, you can only hope for it. University is a big step and change of pace. I’m excited and a little bit nervous, being so far from home, but it’s going to be a good challenge. I joined GEMS Modern Academy in second grade and it’s like a second home, so it’s going to be hard leaving, but that’s life!”
