A daily session by Fun Robotics at the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair is teaching young visitors the basics of aerodynamics and piloting to build their scientifically-oriented perspective
Sharjah, November 9, 2021: Usha, a Grade 7 teacher was as excited as the class of pupils she brought along for the ‘Drone Experience’ workshop held at the ongoing Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2021).
Run by Fun Robotics trainers Omar and Najat, who sportingly permitted each eager child to manoeuvre the drone, the workshop helped the students to explore the world of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), learn the concepts of aerodynamics and piloting, and to assemble and pilot the drone to fly and complete certain objectives around a fly circuit.
“As a physics teacher, I wanted to give my students a hands-on experience about objects in motion and their control panels. Drones are very much a part of the technology of our present and the future, and I felt my students should be learning about them the fun way. They could be adept at playing video games, but doing it scientifically is a different ball game altogether,” Usha stressed.
The mind fitness club of Fun Robotics is conducting multiple workshops at SIBF 2021, and most of them focus on new technologies and STEM education. “In this workshop, children understood the basics of drones, how to pilot them, and also learned how to do some tricks with them. All of them thoroughly enjoyed their time here and this is what is great about SIBF – the book fair offers the kind of learning opportunities that children can have fun with,” Omar noted.
