Dubai, United Arab Emirates, June 17, 2020: Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, the premium private healthcare provider and Deliveroo have recently signed a service agreement to offer patients in Dubai the convenience of medication delivery to their homes. The agreement will allow Medcare to enable same day medication delivery from a wide network of pharmacies to patients who choose to have their medications delivered to them. The ~ 1.2 million patients serviced by the Medcare network every year who are digitally connected are well placed to take advantage of the convenience of online medication ordering, payment and delivery from pharmacies across Dubai.
Through a new tab on the Deliveroo app, patients will be able to search for the name ‘Medcare’ similar to a restaurant search in the app. Then they may order their prescribed medicines by entering their prescription number either after their consultation with their physicians from any physical hospital or medical centre, or after conducting their online telemedicine consultation on the teleMEDCARE platform. The deliveries will be made by Deliveroo riders from pharmacies located in the various Medcare locations or through a network of affiliates across Dubai.
Following consultations, patients may pay their share of medicine cost at the facility following a physical consultation, or online post a teleconsultation on the teleMEDCARE platform. They may use their allotted prescription number to log on to the Deliveroo app and place an order for delivery. Deliveroo will only charge patients a delivery fee for each order placed and payments of the medicines can be made conveniently by Medcare customer service agents. Before delivering the package to patients, Deliveroo riders will request proof of Emirates ID to ensure the medicines are delivered only to the person whose name is stated on the official prescription.
Andre Daoud, Group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres commented: “Patients are demanding greater convenience in their healthcare experience, and our commitment at Medcare is to help deliver unparalleled services to over one million patients who come to us every year. By adding enhanced services like medication delivery, we continue to build on our legacy of innovating and adapting to meet their evolving needs. Partnering with Deliveroo made perfect sense given their vast network and reach across the UAE, and their values that sit well with ours including being customer-centric, embracing innovation and change as well as delivering results.”
Anis Harb, General Manager of Deliveroo GCC, said: "At Deliveroo we're focusing on doing what we can to support the public during COVID-19. By partnering with MedCare we can deliver prescription medication to customers within 30 minutes. We are proud to be able to provide this service to our customers and play a part in keeping the city healthy through this period."
