Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group Celebrates 60 Years of Nation Building by Renewing Its Commitment to the UAE's Ongoing Development

Multidivisional conglomerate includes 27 different companies across a broad range of verticals and over 370 different international brands
February 18, 2020 – Dubai: Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group (ESAG), the leading Dubai-based multidivisional conglomerate, has marked its 60th anniversary in 2020. The Group has focused its long-established legacy of nation building on the Government of Dubai’s Industrial Strategy 2030 to make the emirate an international hub for knowledge-based, innovative and sustainable industrial activities.
ESAG’s present portfolio of 27 different companies across a diverse range of business verticals includes longstanding joint venture partnerships. Established in 1960 by HE Easa Saleh Al Gurg, the Group’s Chairman, the conglomerate began as a trading partner for Grundig in the early sixties. ESAG’s growth trajectory led to partnerships with several international companies who wanted to gain a foothold in the UAE. The Group at present has more than 370 international brands within its various business verticals.
In these six decades, three generations of the Al Gurg family have steered the Group’s evolution into one of the region’s well-known family business houses, with diverse product and business interests in the retail & lifestyle, consumer, building & construction, real estate, industrial and joint venture sectors.
With the Group marking six decades of business in the same year that the emirate hosts Expo 2020 Dubai, Dr Raja Al Gurg, the Group’s Managing Director, has pledged to continue the family’s commitment to focus on leading industry expertise that positively impacts the nation’s growth.
“Our 60th anniversary is a momentous milestone for the Group, the Al Gurg family and the several thousand loyal employees who have worked tirelessly to contribute to our success,
weathering challenges and market fluctuations. The Group’s commitment to excellence and innovative thinking has made it one of the leading family businesses in the UAE,” said Dr Al Gurg.
“As the UAE marks 2020 as the year of preparation for the next half century, ESAG is committed to enhancing our contribution to nation building. Sixty years ago our beginnings were part of the UAE’s pioneering spirit to provide global businesses with a true perspective of the nation’s foresight and economic achievements,” she said.
“Today the Group has built on the Chairman’s foresight, forging new paths by embracing sustainable and positive growth measures. Within our diverse sectors, ESAG offers a wide-ranging portfolio supported by expertise and knowledge of a skilled workforce. Our investment and operations teams and continue to work together with businesses within the Group and our external partners to reach the next level of excellence. We are also proud of our growing women workforce who constitute a significant part of the Group-wide talent pool,” said Abdulla Al Gurg the Group’s CEO.
Aside from its successful business operations, ESAG has also played an important role in the maturing, multinational fabric of UAE society. The company has implemented a number of pioneering social initiatives which have supported the less fortunate in the region, raised awareness of water conservation and promoted UAE’s values of tolerance.
ESAG has also championed gender equality and workforce balance. The Group employs 270 women, led by Dr Raja Al Gurg along with her siblings Maryam Al Gurg and Muna Al Gurg who continue to play an active role in executing the Group’s strategy.
As ESAG prepares for its sixtieth anniversary, Dr Raja Al Gurg concludes, “A number of important factors have contributed to our longevity and success.
