A step in the right direction – A step towards Empowerment!

Dubai, UAE, October 25, 2018:  Learning to communicate better and develop their personality is not a far-fetched dream for blue collar workers. To empower these unskilled workers, Danube Welfare Center was initiated in the year of 2015 under the vision of Mr. Rizwan Sajan Founder and Chairman for Danube Group and taken forward by the Directors. Mrs. Shabnam Kassam, Dr. Sana Sajan and Mr. Sameer Anwar Shah. 

Danube Welfare Center offers a range of free training courses to help blue collared employees of other companies to improve their language skills, personality enhancement, computer literacy and further develop their career. The center has provided free education over 2000 students since the beginning, and on a daily basis 200 plus students come in to various centers around the UAE including of which 32 received promotions in their company after attending the various sessions.

These classes have helped them elevate their positions and earn more. Increase in wage provides them with an opportunity to improve their lifestyle and further support their families back home. 

Rahul Kumar, who has been working as a helper in a company in Dubai from past 6 years with a minimum wage, said that he has scored a better paying job with his newly developed capability of reading and writing English language along with computer training. He has credited his achievement to the teachers and management of Danube Welfare Center.

The CSR wing has also contributed to social causes such as assisting Thalassemia patients, helping children with special needs, women empowerment, field trips for students to give them exposure, health and dental awareness programs, breast cancer awareness – pap smears tests and motivational talks to labourers, charity donations and much more.

Presently, Danube operates 6 different centers across UAE where 200 plus blue collared employees come in every single day for free sessions by qualified teachers so that they have an equal opportunity to grow in their lives. The most recent project includes a new center in affiliation with JAFZA especially for ladies in the ladies camp where free education and computer classes are being operated.  

Shabnam Kassam, Director of Danube Welfare Center said, “What started with less than 50 workers gaining guidance with Danube Welfare Center to learn English language and computer skills, has over short time grown beyond our expectations. Our aim is not just to provide these classes, but to ensure our efforts gets converted into tangible results.”
