17th October, 2018; Dubai, UAE: Danube Home, the UAE's leading home improvement brand is launching a ‘Pink Weekend’ campaign to offer free of cost consultation by a gynaecologist at Danube Home Sheikh Zayed showroom on 26th and 27th October 2018 in order to raise awareness about women’s health related issues, breast cancer in particular.
The World Health Organisation's (WHO) International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) states that breast cancer accounted for more than 20 percent of the total 4,707 new cancer cases that were found in the UAE in 2018. As per the date one in five men and one in six women worldwide develop cancer during their lifetime, and one in eight men and one in 11 women die from the disease. Hence to raise awareness about this devastating disease the group initiated this campaign.
Adel Sajan, Director Danube Group, said: “we are a brand who always believes in giving back to the society. This is one of the small steps by us to raise public awareness about breast cancer, educate about the importance of its early detection, provide guidance, identify preventive measures and risks, and highlight diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Hence request all the brave and beautiful women to take out some time from their busy schedule and visit Danube Home at Sheikh Zayed Showroom to get free consultation.”
Dr. Sana Sajan, Director Danube Welfare Center said: “Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world and among the top five causes of death among cancer types. The campaign involves coffee morning where cancer warrior’s, doctor and care givers will gather to share their inspiring and motivational stories on 23rd October 2018 at our Danube Home Showroom. Additionally, we will have a free of cost consultation on 26th and 27th October. Our motive behind the event is to educate and create awareness.”
The UAE is determined to bring down cancer fatalities by nearly 18 per cent by 2021. Reducing the number of deaths due to cancer is one of the key performance indicators in the UAE National Agenda 2021.
