Dubai, UAE, 28th August 2018: The Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) today, on Emirati Women’s Day, has announced The Dubai Mall scholarship winner as 19 year old Emirati, Ayesha Al Suwaidi.
Launched earlier this year in partnership with DIDI, The Dubai Mall scholarship was created to empower women in design and innovation and to inspire young female talent to change the face of design in the region.
Sass Brown, Dean of DIDI comments: “There has never been a better day to announce The Dubai Mall scholarship winner than on Emirati Women’s Day, where we get to celebrate the women who enrich the nation with their skills and expertise. At DIDI, we pledge to nurture the next generation of design talent and change makers of the future and we hope that they join the women at the forefront of the UAE society. We are very excited to have Ayesha Al Suwaidi join us next week at DIDI and look forward to seeing her talent develop over the program so she can make her dreams in design a reality.”
Set to start her 4-year program at DIDI on September 2nd, proud winner of The Dubai Mall scholarship Ayesha Al Suwaidi comments: “Thank you to The Dubai Mall for giving me the opportunity to pursue my dream as a designer. Design is something that I am incredibly passionate about as it comes from the heart. Studying with DIDI will guarantee that I will have a future career in design, with the aim to create something which will further improve our society.”
As a first of its kind in the region, DIDI offers a unique design education, in the form of a four-year Bachelor of Design Degree (BDes), the curriculum of which has been crafted in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Parsons School of Design. Khayt will be the first installation in The Dubai Mall from a leading design school in the region.
