Dubai Police Organises Awareness Lecture on Sudden Veering in Cooperation with ZAJEL

Lecture part of campaign to reduce accident deaths to zero by 2021.

In cooperation with ZAJEL, the UAE’s fastest growing courier company and preferred by government departments, the General Directorate of Traffic - Dubai Police organised an awareness lecture targeting bike drivers engaged for delivery by courier companies and restaurants. 

The awareness lecture is part of the campaign of Dubai Police to reduce the number accident deaths to zero by 2021.
Hosted by ZAJEL in its Dubai Head Office and attended by 110 courier bike drivers, the lecture comes as part of a campaign on “sudden veering” organised by Dubai Police to reduce traffic accidents. The campaign is targeting all drivers, especially restaurants and delivery companies’ motorbike delivery drivers.

Commenting on the lecture, Khawla Kabanji, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ZAJEL, said: “This is a special occasion for us to bring awareness to our bike couriers, who are reaching our clients across the UAE. This lecture serves to increase their awareness in relation to traffic safety laws and helps protect their lives and the lives of other road users.”

“This cooperation between us and Dubai Police will continue, so we improve together the security and safety of the community; a matter that represents an important part of our strategy, which is based on providing high quality services that reflect the position and development of the UAE in virtually all sectors,” Kabanji added. 

Corporal Omar Musallam Othman from the General Directorate of Traffic said that organising the lecture at ZAJEL falls in the framework of a nationwide big campaign that will raise awareness among motorists, motorcyclists and all road users on the danger of sudden veering, which is a major cause of traffic accidents.

Corporal Othman explained that lack of attention, tyre explosion, lack of clear knowledge of the road, over-speeding or using mobile phones while driving are possible reasons for sudden veering. 

At the end of the lecture, Dubai Police, in cooperation with the management of ZAJEL, distributed awareness raising multilingual leaflets (Arabic, English and Urdu) to drivers. The leaflets contained important information on how to avoid sudden veering and ensure safe overtaking.
