“World Record” created by the LG OLED Video Wall recognized as “Best use of Projection/Display Solutions”

First ever AV Technology Europe Awards 2018 dedicated to recognizing innovation and achievements in the audio video industry rewarded the unique OLED video wall

Dubai-UAE: 19 February 2018 –   The LG OLED video wall signage continues to garner interna-tional attention and has been awarded under the category of ‘Best use of Projection/Display Solutions’ award at the first ever AV Technology Europe Awards 2018. The AV Technology Europe Awards held in Amsterdam were dedicated to recognising innovation and achievements in AV throughout end-user businesses.

The world record breaking and award winning video wall at The Dubai Mall was unveiled by Emaar Entertainment in August 2017 taking digital signage into a whole new realm and scoring a hat-trick of record titles, in partnership with LG: largest OLED screen, highest resolution video wall and largest high-definition video wall. The wall is a magnificent, 50-meter wide, wave-like configuration spanning two storeys and fully visible from the ground floor at The Dubai Mall, the world’s most visited retail destination.

The next-generation display – LG OLED screens resulted in superb images with the deepest possible blacks and life-like colors as well as wider viewing angles than conventional backlit displays. While these flexible LG OLED screens provided the vibrant colour range and wider viewing angle necessary at the location, Dataton’s WATCHOUT multi-display system and com-pact WATCHPAX 4 media servers handle content production and delivery. 

The mega-sized video wall was created using 820 LG Open Frame OLED signage panels. All functions and the user interface were tailored to meet the venue's specific requirements. 

The use of LG’s Open Frame OLED signage at the Dubai Aquarium was particularly fitting be-cause the curved form factor of the display follows the undulations of flowing water. The LG Open Frame OLED signage can be configured into both convex and concave curves in both landscape and portrait modes, blending into any public and private space.

The nomination for the award category was initiated by Dataton as part of the efforts to promote the world class video wall on an international platform. Dataton is the creator of the award-winning WATCHOUT multi-display production and projection-mapping system, WATCHPAX and WATCHMAX media servers.
