startAD offers interactive program of startup events during December 2017

Abu Dhabi, UAE – December 4, 2017:  startAD, an innovation and entrepreneurship platform that supports startups in the UAE, is offering a diverse program of open events throughout the month of December 2017. All of the events listed below are open to the public and free to attend.

Al Warsha: Laser Cutting

Date: Monday, December 4 
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Location: NYU Abu Dhabi Humanities Building (A6) – Room 016

Participants will learn how a laser cutter works in this open workshop, with demonstrations taking place on how to design and cut intricate patterns into cardboard and wood.

Basics of Angel Investing

Date: Wednesday, December 6
Time: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Location: startAD Central, NYU Abu Dhabi campus 

For those who aspire to help set up the next Careem or Souq.com, or have a passion for technology startups, angel investing is a great way for individuals to have an impact at an early stage of a startup’s life. Outside of investment from founders, family and friends, angel investors are the next typical step for startup founders looking to raise money in exchange for equity in the company. 

In these introductory sessions, interested individuals will learn the basics of angel investing from leading angel investor group VentureSouq including how to find deals, evaluate an early startup, and how to contribute value to the company post investment.

Al Warsha: 3D Printing

This introduction to 3D printing and additive manufacturing takes the form of a workshop that will teach participants the process of designing three-dimensional solid objects as well as the printing process that follows.

Founder School: Customer Data, Digital Marketing

Date: Monday, December 11 
Time: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm 
Location: GlassQube Co-working, Sky tower (35th Floor), Reem Island

In this day and age where social media is a powerful mode of communication, a great deal of customer traction can be mobilized by taking on a smart and effective digital marketing strategy. For the final session of this year’s Founder School series, Adam Kwasenewski, head of SME marketing at Google MENA will address the importance of keeping an up-to-date record of customer data to maximize the benefits of digital marketing. This session promises to transform the way you look at your customer data in relation to digital marketing once and for all.

Hardware Venture Launchpad Demo Day

The graduation showcase of startups at the Hardware Venture Launchpad demo day will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at NYU Abu Dhabi. At the event, emerging hardware companies graduating from the 10 day program will be showcasing their business to investors, media, and the UAE startup community.
