Department of Economic Development - Ajman and Ajman Cultural Center commits to maintaining fruitful cooperation to help achieve sustainability for the emirate

UAE, July 29, 2017- The Sustainability Team of the Department of Economic Development – Ajman (DED-Ajman) recently held a coordination meeting with the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development Center to help develop more ways and means aimed at reinforcing joint cooperation between the two government entities. The meeting focused on the development of key guidelines, standards and practices to bolster the emirate’s efforts towards achieving sustainability.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized on the need to deepen the joint efforts between the two parties, which will further promote the concept of sustainable development and contribute effectively to its dissemination inside and outside the department. Also discussed were important challenges that included the move to provide support for cultural centers, including the Ajman Center for Culture and Development, which is focused on stimulating and encouraging talented students to further hone and develop their skills and creativity. One of the programs created as a result of this cooperation is an initiative wherein hand-made works were created by the department's staff out of recycled materials. The program was developed to help enhance the spirit of positivity among staff while also improving their work environment, which plays a significant role in the move to increase happiness among workers.
His Excellency (H.E.) Ahmed Mahmoud Al Hammadi, Director of Support Services and Head of Sustainability at the Department of Economic Development; Rashid Hassan Sabt; Mariam Mohammed Al-Kharada and Hakim Rashed, all of whom are members of DED – Ajman’s Sustainability Team, visited the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development to attend the Cultural Summer National Program 2017, which was inaugurated by H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development. During the visit, the team was able to learn more about the important posts and the work of the literary and artistic workshops for the students participating in the program.
Al Hammadi said that the fruitful cooperation with the Ajman Cultural Center is a positive step towards enhancing and promoting the concept of sustainability among the department's employees and beyond, which falls in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, to achieve sustainable development, which is a priority of the emirate.
H.E. Al Hammadi also pointed out that the department’s participation in the ‘Cultural Summer’ program is aligned with its commitment to promote unique knowledge creation among our students as a cornerstone of the emirate’s comprehensive progress. He described as creative the eco-friendly handicrafts of the participating students, saying their works are aligned with the emirate’s sustainability efforts and initiatives to enhance the quality of life of its people.
