Statement by H.E. Dr. Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, SLC Secretary General, on the Occasion of World Law Day

12 September 2026 – World Law Day is observed annually in recognition of the pivotal role of law as the foundation of societies governed by justice and fairness, and as the cornerstone of sustainable social development based on equality in rights and obligations.

The significance of law extends far beyond the administration of justice, protection of rights, and regulation of activities across administrative, civil, criminal, and personal domains. The rule of law serves as a defining indicator of a nation's competitiveness, institutional reliability, and economic and investment appeal. This is distinctly evident in the UAE, where the forward‑looking vision and our wise leadership's directives have enabled the nation to emerge as a model for justice and equality. Furthermore, the UAE has developed a flexible and comprehensive legislative system that keeps pace with present developments, anticipates future needs, and actively reinforces the nation's continued progress and prosperity.

On this special occasion, we at the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai take great pride in our nation's achievements and milestones in legislative development, which have firmly cemented its status as a state governed by the rule of law and robust institutions. We extend our deepest respect and appreciation to all legal professionals across the United Arab Emirates and around the world, reaffirming our commitment to advancing legal awareness and developing a more agile and proactive legislative framework that safeguards the supremacy of the law and reinforces its vital role in delivering justice.
