Top Ten Finish for UAE Team Emirates' Diego Ulissi at 81st La Flèche Wallonne

Ulissi finishes 10th at The Walloon Arrow and looks ahead to Liège–Bastogne–Liège
Dubai, UAE, April 22, 2017: UAE Team Emirates’, all-rounder Diego Ulissi finished in top 10 at - La Flèche Wallonne – on Wednesday 18 April 2017 which was won by Alejandro Valverde (Movistar).
The 200.5 kilometers race starting from Binche concluded on the steep Mur de Huy. The dramatic finale saw Bob Jungels (Quick-Step) attempting a solo breakaway that was quickly neutralized by the other teams when they caught up with him in the last kilometer. Ulissi maintained his performance and was consistently in the front of the peloton.
Reflecting on the race, the Italian all-rounder Ulissi said: “I had a feeling today was going to be a good day despite it being cold. In the finale the team did a great job positioning me in the best way to take on the treacherous Mur de Huy. In the last 250 meters I was in front, however was outsprinted to the finish line. I’m happy with my result and will be heading to Liège–Bastogne–Liège on Sunday in good spirits and with a lot to look forward to.”
Commenting on the performance of the team Sports Director Marco Marzano said: “We were aiming for top ten finish at this race and are very pleased with Ulissi’s results. We are proud and happy with all the hard work and support the team has put into this race and I am confident we can do well at Liège–Bastogne–Liège”
UAE Team Emirates is racing at Liège–Bastogne–Liège on Sunday, 23 April and the Tour de Romandie on Tuesday, 25 April until 30 April.
