- 6% of the remittance volume contributed by women customers
- 72% of women customers prefer account credit while 28% prefer instant money transfer
Dubai, 09 March 2017: Global remittance, foreign exchange and payment solutions brand UAE Exchange has released figures showing a year-on-year increase in the number of women customers at their branches.
In 2015, 8% of the brand’s unique customers were women which rose to 11% in the first two months of 2017. Currently, women customers account for 6% of the entire remittance volume handled by the 150 branches of UAE Exchange across the UAE. The brand further reported that there has been an increase of 9% in the remittance volume by women in 2016 vis-ā-vis 2015. It might be attributed to the fact that 72% of the women customers prefer account credit as compared to the 28% who prefer instant money transfer.
“We have observed an increase in the number of women clients at our branches. This indicates a favourable economic climate that’s creating jobs for women, enabling them to support families. Also women are increasingly choosing UAE Exchange as their preferred financial partner. We have ensured a women-friendly culture across all our branches, and are proud to see it yield results,” said Promoth Manghat, Chief Executive Officer, UAE Exchange.
Late last year, UAE Exchange made a powerful statement about female empowerment and gender equality by launching its first “women-powered” outlet in the Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZA). The branch, staffed entirely by women, differentiates itself through a colour scheme distinct from other UAE Exchange outlets.
This year, on the eve of International Women’s Day, the brand had invited Indian Malayalam film actor Fahadh Faasil to the DAFZA branch and country headquarters in Dubai to felicitate its women staff. The actor also interacted with UAE Exchange customers, especially the expatriate women workers from Africa, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka, at the Chicago Ladies Camp at Al Quoz in Dubai.
“There is no doubt that the social and economic empowerment of women has demonstrated benefits in terms of faster economic growth, better health, lower child mortality and better education. Female empowerment is not just a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal but is also part of the UAE’s strategic vision, with the UAE Gender Balance Council tasked with improving gender equality. UAE Exchange is proud to support the UAE government in creating employment opportunities for women, and supporting them in conducting financial transactions conveniently,” added Promoth.
