Jack Wills Launches New Spring Collection for 2017
Last Update: Sunday, February 5, 2017 : 16:25 (+4GMT)
Jack Wills’ spring collection is inspired by Great Britain and the island nation’s affinity with the coastline. The rise of yachting as a pastime in the UK during the last century gave rise to opportunities for brave British sailors to make their mark; thus our designers looked at sailing apparel old and new, and the functionality and practicality it brings.
In keeping with this maritime theme, our spring collection, some of which is exclusive to the Middle East, takes inspiration from vintage and modern-day sailor garb, featuring Breton and Guernsey stripes, rubbarised fabrications and trims, water-resistant pockets and finishes, twill skirts and dresses with sailor-inspired buttons, and modern silhouettes.
Our designers have developed washed-out, salt-bleached cloth and colours, reflecting the natural process of sea eroding rocks. Indigo is a key product story, from new wash techniques, which can be seen on a run of checks and chambrays in shirting, and indigo-dyed yarn.
Our core and Middle East exclusive products are inspired by vintage pieces, but we have ensured our own versions feel modern, using stitch detail, trims, authentic fabrications and garment-dyed washes. The colour palette is seasonal and elevated – traditional stone, navy and grey are enhanced by the addition of ecru, berry, rose and marine blue.
Across all categories, brisk blue hues – cool chambray, pale indigo and deep denim – can be teamed with seaworthy stripes and authentic nautical detailing. Within the sweats range, our popover and zip-up hoodies showcase new season graphics and design details – upgraded in fit, inspired by vintage sports wear and made from the softest cotton.
