Dubai, UAE, December 17, 2016: True to its image as a luxury Swiss watchmaker, it was a natural step for TAG Heuer to release a smartwatch with a classic design, made not just from modern materials such as titanium, but also a precious metal very familiar to the manufacture: rose gold.
Developed in partnership with Intel and Google, the TAG Heuer Connected Rose Gold offers exactly the same qualities, functions and properties as the original watch. Despite this, it has the elegance, characteristics and level of finish expected from a fine wristwatch. It is a luxury watch which benefits from over 150 years of expertise, savoir-faire and heritage as cultivated by TAG Heuer, a watch manufacture based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking and a UNESCO World Heritage site set at an altitude of 1000 metres, in the middle of Alpine pastures and mountains. Here, watchmakers have been spending the winter in their workshops (in summer, they farm in the pastures) since the 18th century, inventing incredible watches which have built the unique reputation and extraordinary image of quality and exclusivity that Swiss watches enjoy the world over. For more than 150 years, TAG Heuer has been inventing and manufacturing elegant sports watches in the city, including some of the most accurate chronographs produced by the Swiss watch industry.
Smart. But to what extent?
Living, travelling, getting information, connecting... the TAG Heuer Connected watch is the perfect partner. It brings together the best of both worlds: a magnificent TAG Heuer watch with computing intelligence. TAG Heuer worked closely with Intel and Google to create a luxury watch that combined connectivity and computing intelligence with Swiss watchmaking heritage. Intel engineered the intelligence inside the watch to optimize performance and enable a multitude of connectivity options including audio streaming, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as well as allow users to harness the full range of features offered by the Android Wear operating system.
At 46 mm in diameter, the design of the TAG Heuer Connected is primarily that of a classic watch. Featuring 4GB of memory and a latest-generation lithium battery providing an entire day of autonomy, the TAG Heuer Connected is fitted with a small microphone enabling the wearer to communicate with it using Google Voice control, as well as a sapphire crystal touchscreen, to be used alongside the command push button at 3 o'clock. The whole IP67-certified watch is designed to be water-resistant for everyday wear. The watch can be recharged using a contact charger. Simply place the watch on top to recharge it. The watch also comes with a two-year warranty. This is the same as the standard warranty that TAG Heuer offers for its watches.
A connected watch that can also be a timeless gift
Finally anyone who purchases a TAG Heuer Connected watch will have the opportunity to exchange it for a mechanical watch with real Swiss movement inside. At the end of the connected watch's two-year warranty period, customers can go to the TAG Heuer store of his or her choice to exchange the TAG Heuer Connected watch for a mechanical Swiss Made Carrera watch. With similar design, also made from grade 2 titanium, this mechanical watch has been exclusively developed and reserved for owners of connected watches. After the smartwatch's two-year warranty expires, owners can go to the TAG Heuer boutique of their choice to exchange their TAG Heuer Connected watch for a Swiss-Made Carrera Calibre 5 mechanical watch. Featuring an identical design and also made from grade 2 titanium, this mechanical watch has been exclusively developed for and made available to owners of TAG Heuer Connected watches.
The watch is available for 9,900 USD, 9,300 euros, 9,900 CHF, 7,500 GBP, 78,000 HKD, or 1,120,000 JPY (plus VAT).
