Brazil registers significant growth in construction material exports to Arab World

UAE, November 22, 2016 – The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) has recently noted the significant growth in construction material exports to the Arab World. The strong numbers indicate that the UAE is a leading country for Brazilian exports in 2016 with USD 15.69 million recorded for the year alone so far. This reflects the strong trade relations between Brazil and the UAE as well as the thriving real estate sectors of both countries.

The ABCC emphasized this during its participation in The Big 5, one of the leading platforms for enhancing trade levels in the construction industry. A number of notable Brazilian companies are also participating in the event and showcase their wide range of top-quality products and services. The Arab World in general has recorded an impressive growth in Brazilian exports from 2015 to 2016, with the UAE leading with a 15.21 per cent growth and a share of 63.08 per cent. 

Saudi Arabia, registered the next largest volume of exports, followed by Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen. In addition, Yemen, registered the highest percentage of growth from 2015 at 452 per cent, followed by Bahrain at 231.88 per cent, Oman at 94.89 per cent, then Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia and then Qatar. 

The construction products increased from its 2015 numbers to its current 24.87 million, featuring a growth of 2.15 per cent. In terms of share in millions of US dollars, Granite is leading with share at 22.40 per cent or USD 5.57 million, and featuring a growth of 41.32 per cent. It is then followed by Plywood, Veneered Panels & Similar Laminated Wood; Glazed Ceramic Flags & Paving, Hearth Tiles; Wooden Furniture for Bedrooms; Plastics, Polymers and Resins ; and Appliances for Pipes, Boiler Shells, Tanks, Vats and the likes.
