Dubai, UAE, September 21, 2016: For the second year in a row, Nestlé NIDO in collaboration with the Food Banking Regional Network (FBRN), will deliver seven million glasses of milk to children in need across the region, including Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.
“The main objective of this partnership is to reach and make a difference in the lives of children who don't have easy access to healthy nutrition,” said Nestlé Middle East Chairman and CEO Yves Manghardt. “This is in line with our commitment to society in the Middle East to Promote Healthy Diets and Lifestyles.”
Almost 60,000 children continued to benefit from the initiative in the Middle East, so far receiving nearly seven million glasses of milk.
"We worked hand in hand with Nestlé Middle East to ensure the milk is served to children in need, which vastly boosted our efforts to combat malnutrition in the region," said Moez el Shohdi, FBRN Co-Founder & CEO.
Last year, people in the Middle East were invited to take a pledge online and in return Nestlé promised to donate seven glasses of milk per pledge to a child in need, aiming to reach one million pledges. The initiative eventually garnered two million pledges, making room for an additional donation of seven million glasses being made currently.
Milk is a crucial part of children’s diets and is essential for their healthy growth and development. The milk that is being donated is Nestlé NIDO Fortified milk with FortiGrow that contains high quality proteins, Calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones and teeth, Iron and Vitamin C - important for brain development, as well as other key nutrients that are needed for children’s overall growth and development.
