Schneider Electric Provides Summer Essentials to Dubai Seafarers' Community

Dubai, UAE, September 14, 2016: In an effort to give back to the local community, Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has provided seafarers in Dubai with ‘summer essentials’ kits to help them cope with the hot months.
Each kit consists of eight basic but valued items including a reusable water-bottle, rehydration tablets, a small towel, a t-shirt, a pair of flip-flops, shower-gel, packet of playing cards and a roll of garbage bags. Schneider Electric’s employees bought items &donated funds over the summer months, in collaboration with The Angel Appeal: Mission to Seafarers.
Benoit Dubarle, President-Gulf Countries, Pakistan and East Mediterranean for Schneider Electric led volunteers from the company in distributing 200 summer essentials kits to seafarers working on commercial cargo dhows in Deira.
Speaking on the initiative, Benoit Dubarle said: “As a proactive partner in supporting the UAE’s sustainability efforts, it is our ongoing focus at Schneider Electric to engage with various communities in the country, understand their needs and do our bit in fulfilling them. This is an important part of our wider objectives as a global energy leader.
“We organized this outreach to recognize the efforts and contributions of seafarers to Dubai’s thriving trade and economy. With the temperatures continuing to soar in this region, the seafarers are delighted with this small gesture. I commend the efforts of all those involved in putting this thoughtful drive together. This is areinforcement of the employee spirit and culture thatpervades Schneider Electric.”
