Ramadan is a well-awaited and blessed month for people across the globe and has a very special significance in the Arab world: It begins a journey of togetherness witnessing the magic of what happens when people come together.
Eng. Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management Department, Dubai Municipality, has backed the Campaign and highly appreciates the initiative “Convoy to Feed 2016” for nearly 500 food packages distribution to benefit the scrap collection labours and DM staff & labours working in this site with Iftar meals of freshly cooked biryani rice, Al Barakah Dates, Barakat Quality Plus fresh juices and packaged food items including Quaker goodie bags of pasta and soup sachets along with water bottle and a box of fresh fruits by Istanbul Group of Companies this Ramadan. These business establishments like Pro Global Logistics, Shrey Sahaj, Cosmo Advertising, Barakat Quality Plus LLC, Choithram Al Barakah Dates Factory, Emirates Packaging Industries and Istanbul Group of Companies have been supported this initiative to be successful.
Eng. Naji Alradhi, Head of Waste Treatment Section, Mr. Sadin Al Falasi, Head of Treatment Systems Unit, Waste Management Department along with several other senior officials were present at the event to support and encourage the children in their endeavours.
Simran Vedvyas, Founder of SynergY says- “I chose Dubai Municipality landfill sites because we have planted thousands of trees in the past at various landfills across UAE for sustainable and green environment and most of our members realize and appreciate the hard work the labors that they put in for keeping the environment of the city clean for us, working tirelessly and ignoring the harsh weather conditions. This is most certainly our way to express gratitude and share time with them during the holy month of Ramadan.”
She continues to express that- “It is imperative to highlight and draw attention to the fact -that we throw away over 1/3 of all food that is produced, wasting precious land and water resources that have gone into its production. Food waste in landfills is one of the biggest contributors of the harmful gases that cause global warming. Warmer temperatures are melting glaciers causing sea levels to rise, threatening small islands and low lying cities around the world.”
Sarkar Chauhan, Director Pro Global Logistics and a sponsor contributor of the event encourages all to join in such charity initiatives by saying that- “The significance and rewards of charity have a close relationship with Ramadan. The fasting days and prayer-filled nights soften hearts with compassion and generosity. A reminder that the world is filled with people who are unable to find enough food or drink for their needs Ramadan not only allows Muslims to experience first hand the suffering of the poor, and encourages them to help the needy but also gives a chance to the Non-Muslims to stand united in solidarity”
SynergY members not only engage in the noble charity but promote the important message to reduce food wastage of Think- Eat -Save during this time, as a sustainability initiative.”
All of those present at the event commonly shared that- “Ramadan month unites everyone, it’s teachings gives us happiness and gives satisfaction when we help others, and rewards which we receive are bountiful” Ramadan Mubarak.
