Dubai, UAE, June 14, 2016: Emirates Post Group hosted a "Ramadan Lanterns" initiative in coordination with Tamkeen (Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation) under the slogan (Zakat is light and joy) to raise money from the sale of lanterns to support orphans. The event was held at the head office in Dubai, Dubai Central Post Office and Sharjah Central Post.
The initiative drew strong response from employees and customers, in the presence of Acting CEO of Emirates Post Group Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Ashram, Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam and CEO of Postal Operations Mr. Sultan Al Midfa, along with a number of senior officials and employees of Emirates Post Group.
Chief Support Services Officer of EPG Mr. Sami Al Khaja said the initiative stemmed from Emirates Post Group’s keenness to support the under-privileged, based on a strategic plan tuned to the concept of corporate social responsibility and support of practical steps in achieving excellence in performance, as per the vision of our wise leadership.
The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation has placed lanterns in various government and private institutions, and urged all members of society to contribute to the success of the campaign under the zakat program, through material donations, or by participating in projects linked to the campaign, or supplying food for Iftaar for the families of orphans affiliated to the institution, or through the «Ramadan Pantry» project and «the gift of Ramadan» project, which provides for the basic needs of the families of orphans during the holy month, or through the «Eid Candy» program which offers candies to orphans.
