Electronic Government Authority (EGA) of Ras Al Khaimah Relies on Veeam to Deliver Always-On Availability

The Electronic Government Authority (EGA) of Ras Al Khaimah, one of seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, was established in 2004 to transform Ras Al Khaimah to an online community, through the application of the latest technologies and integrated solutions. EGA provides centralized IT services to the government entities in Ras Al Khaimah in the following areas: technical project management, technical services management, training programs, and e-services.

In line with its mission to implement integrated solutions using cutting-edge technologies EGA began heavily virtualizing its IT environment. However the earlier backup solution was not designed for a virtual environment. “With complete virtual infrastructure and mission-critical applications – representing 95 percent overall virtualization – we identified a shortcoming that needed to be urgently addressed,” said Ms. Alia Al Kindy, Manager IT Services, EGA.

After carefully evaluating the market, including its incumbent provider, EGA found that the comprehensive set of capabilities offered by Veeam Availability Suite met the requirements for the virtualized environment.
