Rado wins 2016 Red Dot Product Design Award

Rado True Open Heart dazzles the design world

(Lengnau, Switzerland – April 2016) Rado’s one-of-a-kind True Open Heart has been honoured with the 2016 Red Dot Product Design award, further expanding the brand’s extensive array of award-winning timepieces.

The True Open Heart is an ode to luxury, lightness and comfort. Limited to just 500 individually marked pieces, it is crafted in either matt black or polished white high-tech ceramic. The True Open Heart’s beautifully decorated Swiss movement is framed by stylized cutouts in the dial, lending the piece an airy, spacious feel and giving the wearer a glimpse into the enigmatic mechanics within. An ultrafine 0.2 mm mother-of-pearl layer floats over the dial like a veil, subtly exposing the mysterious inner workings of the watch below.

Housed in the brand's signature monobloc case, the Rado True Open Heart offers all the benefits of a watch crafted from Rado’s signature high-tech ceramic. Both lighter and harder than steel, high-tech ceramic is among the lightest and most durable materials used in luxury watchmaking. In addition to its remarkable lightness and scratch resistance, ceramic adapts to the wearer’s body temperature almost immediately, so it will never feel too hot or too cold against the skin. Smooth and lightweight, it floats on the wrist, becoming an extension of the wearer.
