Experience Festivities of the Traditional Thai New Year on Saadiyat Island

The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi Hosts Songkran Festival at Sontaya with Authentic Cuisine and Captivating Live Entertainment
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy, is inviting guests to take part in the festivities of its annual Songkran Festival, Thailand’s traditional New Year’s Day festival.
Starting Thursday, 13 April until Saturday, 23 April, guests can experience Thailand’s most striking festival by indulging in authentic Thai cuisine, hospitality and cultural traditions at the resort’s award winning Southeast Asian restaurant, Sontaya.
A delectable five-course dinner will be presented by Thai Chef de Cuisine Peter Peerapong, which will highlight the distinctive aromas of the Southeast Asian region. Dishes includes Sontaya Garden, King of Souffle, and Siam Crystal & Royal Thai Petit Four amongst others.
Chef Peter will also be unveiling, his bespoke new creation, E-SAN combo, a Thai Style Beef Sausage with Chili Tamarind relish, a dish inspired by the Thai region E-SAN meaning East North.
In Thai tradition, the annual Songkran festival marks the sun’s entry into the zodiac sign of Aries, when families and friends celebrate with food, music, and dancing. Guest can learn about the traditions and culture of the Songkran Festival through an exciting programme of entertainment, which includes live music and dance performances throughout the festival as well as the iconic floating lanterns on the waterways of Sontaya, all through the 10-day festival.
The Thai inspired set menu, available at dinner only, is priced at AED 300 per person and is subject to applicable taxes and fees.
