Dubai-UAE: 9 April 2016 - Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF), today received a generous donation of AED105,750 from Emirati businessman, Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of Al Habtoor Group, to purchase a bus for the children of the Family Village - Dubai’s first endowment village and one of AMAF’s key humanitarian initiatives.
The Donation came during a meeting between Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor and Ahmad Bu Shehab, Director of Waqf Development Department at AMAF, in the presence of directors and senior managers of the two organizations.
Commending the move, Bu Shehab said: "On behalf of the Family Village, I extend my deepest appreciation to Al Habtoor Group for this noble gesture. The donation reflects the commitment of officials and businessmen in Dubai to support and develop humanitarian projects and assist the underprivileged sections of society. It is encouraging to see individuals and entities within the private sector join our efforts in spreading a culture of altruism and generosity within our community."
For his part, His Excellency Khalaf Al Habtoor said: "This donation is in line with our firm belief that the private sector has a responsibility to play a proactive role in driving social causes for the greater well-being of the community. Making up a substantial part of Islamic social and economic culture, waqf plays an integral role in fighting poverty in our society. Considered a long-term investment, waqf helps develop both human and financial capabilities for generations to come. I take this opportunity to call on individuals and businessmen to do their bit in supporting deserving projects such as the Family Village endowment."
