DC employees to receive 373 training programs in 2016

Dubai, UAE, March 24, 2016:   Dubai Customs’ training schedule for 2016 will offer 373 courses, covering three key areas: Customs, specialized and administrative training programs. Making a total of 48,665 training hours, the courses will be carried out throughout the year. In 2015, 218 training programs were delivered.   

The Executive Director of HR, Finance and Administration Division at Dubai Customs Ahmed Obaid Al Falasi, said: “The training plan for 2016 targets 2,013 employees, which represent 72 per cent of the 2,808 eligible employees of Dubai Customs. As many as 255 in-house and 118 external training programs will be carried out in 2016, with target beneficiaries amounting to 5933. 

Almost 126 training programs will be in customs areas, targeting 2,650 trainees, followed by 124 administrative skills training programs, targeting 2,373 trainees, and 123 specialized programs, targeting 908 employees.

The Executive Director of HR, Finance and Administration Division added that the Training Centre has analyzed and anticipated the training requirements of every department and business unit in DC while preparing the training plan for 2016.

“The Customs Training Center has collaborated with the IT Department to put together a 100% in-house-developed online system which helps smartly identify and cater to training needs of DC employees,” noted Al Falasi. 

Dr. Shaikha Al Ghafri, Acting Director of the Customs Training Center, said that the center is adding final touches to a database linking all employee designations from grades 6 to 15 with over 300 training programs. “Staff are increasingly opting for filling out the e-form for training needs. For 2016, around 2,010 e-forms were submitted, up by 22 per cent on the 1,643 e-forms submitted in 2015.  

“We have arranged with recognized training providers in the UAE to set and implement plans for honing the skills of DC employees. We are committed to meeting highest world standards in training our personnel and creating competent national workforce,” she added.
