Dubai, March 14, 2016: The courier and cargo business continues to grow in the UAE, driven by a vibrant business environment in the country, according to Emirates Post Group (EPG), which is authorized to issue licenses to companies operating in this sector.
In 2015, there were 132 courier and cargo companies that were issued licenses or renewals by Emirates Post Group. A total of 25 new companies were issued licenses in 2015. The number of companies keeps changing as there are new companies being formed every month, according to EPG records.
“As per Federal government rules, EPG is in charge of issuing licenses and regulating the operations of companies in the courier and cargo sector. Trends show that the UAE’s status as the region’s hub of business and trade is accelerating the demand for such services,” said Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Post Group, Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam.
“At EPG, we ensure that new companies get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in less than 20 days, provided they submit all the required documents,” added Mr. Bin Karam.
The EPG website (www.epg.gov.ae) now provides online registration and renewal facility for courier companies under e-Services section. Applicants can attach all required documents online: including a completed application form, a declaration and pledge, copy of owner’s and partner’s passport, copy of local family book, copy of initial approval from Economic Department, copy of trade name, copy of memorandum of association, copy of lease contract, and copy of commercial license along with trading register certificate. The license fee of AED 100,000 per annum should be submitted to EPG finance department at the Ramool head office.
