Hammerhead introduces UAE's first Car Maintenance workshop for Women

Regular Car maintenance workshops to help keep women safe and savvy

21st February 2016, Dubai, UAE - Hammerhead, UAE’s Auto Repair & Maintenances specialists hosted last Thursday the country’s first woman’s car maintenance workshop to help provide basic automotive training to a primary female audience.

Attended by more than 45 working women, stay-at-home mums and daughters, the workshop provided women with vehicle maintenance knowledge that will foster confidence and heighten safety on the roads.

The free community workshop kicked off with a Parking Bay session to address any questions and concerns of all the participants who attended. Following the interactive session, the workshop then covered three important topics from vehicle basics, engine bay and under carriage as well as what to do in an emergency. The workshop was conducted by qualified female and male experts with the aim to teach participants how to check their cars basic systems including fluids, electrics, belts, wipers, tyres and undercarriage tyres. Should a breakdown or emergency occur, women who have participated in the workshop will be more confident about jump-starting their car, changing a tyre or knowing if their vehicle is in need of an oil change or is overheating and requires water.

They will also know what to ask for, or expect, when they bring their cars in for a service at a garage.

“It's ironic, when you consider that women make the majority of car buying and maintenance decisions, and yet are the last ones to know what to do in the event of a breakdown. Though women may have automotive purchasing power these days, car care still has the reputation of being a man's job. As a working mum, I, like so many others in our community, rely on my vehicle to take me different places, yet still found myself stranded on the road when my car broke down waiting for help.” said Nazli Koseoglu, General Manager, Hammerhead Auto Specialists.

“We see too many cases where strong intelligent women are stuck on the roads not knowing how to open the car bonnet of the car or where to go or even what to look for.  My vision with these types of workshops is to reach every woman driver in the UAE and to empower them with the basic education on how the car works, how to maintain it and what to do in an emergency.”

Hammerhead has already registered interest from corporations interested in hosting similar events for their female employees. Furthermore the automotive specialists have also been asked to conduct a closed session for all the parents of a private school in Dubai.
