King's College Hospital Dubai unveils core specialties at Arab Health Exhibition & Congress

- Latest details announced for upcoming hospital and clinics set to open across Dubai over the next two to three years
Dubai, 26th January, 2016:Today at Arab Health Exhibition & Congress, the region’s largest healthcare trade show,the latest details of Kings College Hospital, Dubai were shared in a high-level discussion between the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the UK Minister of State for Health, King’s College Hospital London (KCH) and its Dubai and UK investors including Ashmore Group, Al Tayer and Dubai Investments.
King’s College Hospital, Dubai, a100-bed multi-speciality hospitalset to open in 2018 at the heart of the premium community ‘Dubai Hills’, and its several day-care clinics, set to open in 2017, will be a centre of excellence for four main specialities; Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and Endocrinology, leveraging King’s College Hospital London’s world-leading position in these therapeutic areas.
H.E. Ahmed H. Al Tayer, Chairman, said, “We are delighted to be bringing to Dubai a world class multi-speciality hospital. Simon Taylor, Managing Director responsible for King’s College Hospital international operations said, “King’s College Hospital, Dubai will offer centres of excellence infour therapeutic areas with deep tertiary capabilities in addition to delivering first class general care as a full-service hospital. The hospital will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and some of the UK’s leading physicians and speciality clinical staff will lead clinical delivery on site.
The hospital will be fully integrated with our London facilities across all areas of clinical governance and capabilities, providing the full range of King’s services and experience to UAE residents.”
Also attending was Rt Hon Alistair Burt, Minister of State for Health (UK), who added, “I am very excited to be a part of this significant milestone in UK-UAE relations and collaboration in the healthcare sector, with the establishment of one of London’s pre-eminent hospitals, King’s, in Dubai. This development marks the latest in a longstanding history of collaboration between our two countries and one whose success will be a priority for the UK-UAE healthcare ministerial council.”
Speaking at the event, Dr. Layla Al Marzouqi, Director of the Health Regulation and the Dubai Medical Tourism Project at Dubai Health Authority, commented, “Today, there are several factors that are behind the success of Dubai’s Medical Tourism strategy, including the city’s attractiveness as a destination and the availability of excellent, internationally accredited healthcare services. King's College Hospital,will add to the list of such healthcare facilities present in the Emirate.”
The updates given at the discussion follow King’s College Hospital, Dubai’s November launch announcement. This confirmed a USD200 million project, managedby a joint venture between Al Tayer Group, Dubai Investments and UK-based Ashmore Group, , following the 2014 launch of King’s flagship clinic in Abu Dhabi.
