HBMSU hosts series of workshops on innovation and future of smart learning

UAE, December 22, 2015- Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) recently conducted a series of workshops titled ‘How Could We Kill Smart University’ led by experienced distance and online educator Dr. Stephen Murgatroyd, Chief Innovation Officer of Canada-based distance education and training network Contact North | Contact Nord. The workshops come as a continuation of the university’s participation in UAE innovation week and were in line with HBMSU’s vision of promoting smart learning in the UAE and the rest of the Arab region and complemented the UAE National Innovation Strategy launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The lectures form part of the International Corporation Department’s initiative to reinforce the university’s global status and achieve its vision of shaping the future of education through innovative solutions by harnessing HBMSU’s strategic international partnerships.
Dr. Murgatroyd gave three in-depth and interactive lectures during the seminars. One event was designed for senior management, the second for managers and directors at the various administrative departments while the third session involved deans, program chairs, faculty members, directors in the academic department and other academic members. The workshops discussed a wide range of key topics, from challenges and threats facing smart universities to fundamental solutions and responses and immense opportunities in the sector. The participants also tackled global developments which have the most impact on the future of smart universities.
