October 24, 2015 - DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: Carmudi, the easiest way to sell or buy your car online, analyzed hundreds of thousands of used car listings in order to find out how much consumers are spending on used vehicles globally. The study looked at used car models aged 2008 to 2013 to provide insights into price differences across Carmudi countries.
In the UAE, the average price of a used car is AED 90,000 ($24,500), which is higher compared to the rest of the countries in the study. However, it is important to note that it also has the lowest average age of a used car. In a previous Carmudi report, the average age of a used car in the UAE was 5.2 years, as compared to 6.5 years in Asia and a staggering 12.8 in Africa. Since the lifecycle of an average car in the UAE is so short, cars retain a larger portion of their resale value, leading to higher average prices. The UAE also leads the region in car sales overall with an increase of 3.5% in the first half of 2015. Auto sales are predicted to increase by 77.6% from 2012 through this year. A significant factor in the UAE’s high car sales is lack of unnecessary taxes in automobile sales, which has kept passenger cars more affordable and thus, demand high.
Taking a global look, the UAE has a higher price average when compared to Carmudi markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Online platforms like Carmudi are able to provide an easy way to keep costs down for consumers facing high prices. Carmudi enable buyers to browse a wider selection of vehicles available in their home country and make an educated choice on the car for the best price.
