Ministry of Health partners with WHO to organize workshop on occupational health services development & workplace safety protocols

UAE, October 20, 2015 – The Ministry of Health’s Health Centers and Clinics Department has organized a training workshop on occupational health services development and workplace safety protocols under the theme ‘The Constructive Partnership for Development.’ The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean provided technical assistance to the workshop held in cooperation with The Institute of Public Health (IPH) of the UAE University, health authorities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai as well as concerned federal and local entities. Three WHO experts also took part in the event as facilitators.
The workshop that was held at the Hyatt Regency creek heights Dubai comes in line with the Department’s ongoing mission of promoting a safe and healthy work environment in the country. The event aimed at developing an effective mechanisms for ensuring occupational safety, employees’ health, and enhanced human resource capabilities.
Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Centers and Health Clinics, said: “The Health Centers and Clinics Department continually organizes training and educational activities to spread useful health information and effectively promote modern health skills. We also aim to promote our employees’ efficiency and work performance for better delivery of services, while generating essential scientific and medical information. Additionally, the workshop is part of the Ministry’s overall efforts to establish an effective human resource system and optimize the work environment in the UAE.”
“Furthermore, the Ministry of Health is consistently building communication channels among key strategic partners in health sector. We are also keeping ourselves updated with the latest international best practices in relation to procedures to improving the quality of our local services in order to raise the standard of the national health system so we can meet all healthcare demands,” Hussein Al Rand added.
The workshop featured technical presentations and interactive discussions that shed light on various subjects such as communication channels and health inspection tools. It also provided an opportunity for the participants to exchange ideas about effective ways to face current challenges and best safety practices using advanced technologies and the latest innovations.
The recommendations made during the event focused on developing work procedures for the GCC Committee for Career Safety, establishing world-class primary healthcare facilities, and applying the goals of the fourth generation of the government excellence system.
