Dubai–UAE: 29 September 2015 - ‘The Other Hundred - Entrepreneurs', an exhibit developed by the Global Institute for Tomorrow (GIFT) that celebrates and focuses on the world's everyday entrepreneurs, will be showcased at the East Wing Photo Gallery, DIFC, in collaboration with Aramex, Womena, Elivision, Ikonhouse, Envestors, Right Bite, Dubai Audio and Tharawat from 30 September 2015 to 31 October 2015.

Based on the book, ‘The Other Hundred - Entrepreneurs' published by Hong Kong-based think tank Global Institute for Tomorrow (GIFT) founded by international businessman Chandran Nair, the photo exhibit will shed light on successful entrepreneurs who defy stereotypes. The individuals portrayed in the photographs demonstrate that entrepreneurship encompasses an array of characteristics and that there is no single recipe for business success as they search for ways of supporting themselves, their families and their communities.

Commenting on the occasion, East Wing Photo Gallery Director, Elie Domit, said: “Through this exhibition we want to change the conversation around entrepreneurship and its role in society. Celebrating the achievements of the diverse entrepreneurial ecosystem that surrounds us is important. Photography is the perfect medium to transmit this sentiment and we are happy to welcome “The Other Hundred Entrepreneurs” exhibition at East Wing.”

During the month-long exhibition, Tharawat and East Wing are hosting a two-event series entitled “A Conversation on Entrepreneurship”. The first event will take place on 3rd October, feature speakers with inspiring entrepreneurial stories to tell, followed by a panel discussion on “The realities and illusions of entrepreneurship”. The session aims to highlight the myriad of business models that can be applied to achieve success as an entrepreneur and how the reality of setting up a business can defy common perception. On 10th October, the second event will focus on “The Future of Entrepreneurship” with the particular aim to identify industries that will require new ideas in the years to come and what kind of thinking will define success. Speakers will include business owners who have taken unconventional models to market and are enjoying a great deal of success. Both sessions will be held in the East Wing Gallery and will allow visitors to listen to inspirational stories from global entrepreneurs and immerse themselves into “The Other Hundred Entrepreneurs” photography exhibit.

Tharawat Editor-in-Chief, Ramia M. El Agamy, added: “We have to move beyond our current understanding of entrepreneurship. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to what it means to run a successful business. We want to highlight different business models from all over the world and overcome some of the entrepreneurial stereotypes and truisms that seem to dominate the media landscape.”

Entrepreneurs presenting their businesses and panelists include: Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi, UAE-based writer; Rania and Zaina Kana'an, Founders of Charicycles; Ankur Shah, CFO of Careem; Joana Bacallo, Founder of Agua Pura Natural; May Barber, Co-Founder of The Cartel; Karl Naim, Co-Founder of ChefXChange; David Moleshead, Founder of Envestors; Wissam Otaky, CFO of Hatcher among others.

“The Other Hundred Entrepreneurs” exhibition is being held with the support of Aramex as headline sponsor. Sponsors and partners include Tharawat, Womena, Dubai Audio, Ikonhouse, GIFT, Envestors, Elivision, and Right Bite.
