Dubai, 20 September 2015: Total Marketing Middle East (TMME) - a subsidiary of Total, the international energy group – has launched the second round of Total’s annual Young Graduate Program AMO (Afrique et Moyen-Orient) in the UAE.
The innovative program gives young graduates of African and Middle Eastern origin, with less than one year's work experience after graduation, a chance to work in Total subsidiaries in the AMO region. Through an 18 month work-experience secondment at one of our African or Middle Eastern subsidiaries, participating students have the opportunity to learn more about one of Total’s three main business lines - commercial, financial or technical.
Having taken two graduates from the American University of Sharjah in 2014, the program’s inaugural year, TMME has this year taken a further four graduates from the engineering and finance disciplines of the same University. The two graduates taken on in 2014 have now entered the second ‘international’ phase of the program and are being hosted by Total companies outside the UAE, while the four who joined the program in September 2015 will be working with TMME in Dubai.
The ultimate aim of the Young Graduate Program AMO is to improve the representation of African and Middle Eastern graduates employed within Total subsidiaries in the region.
Speaking about the program and the involvement of his own business, TMME Managing Director, David Kalife, said: “Total is committed to capacity building and diversity wherever it operates in the world, and sees them as integral to its strategy for the Africa and Middle East region. We are very keen, therefore, to share our knowledge, skills and experience with host communities. To that end, we consider it important to partner in appropriate education programs designed to help develop local young talent and shape the region’s future business leaders. Our Young Graduate Program AMO is an excellent example of just such an initiative.”
