15 year old Kehkashan Basu received the International Diana Award in the "Active Campaigner Category"

Dubai, September 2, 2015: 15 year old Kehkashan Basu , a Year 10 student at the Deira International School , has received the prestigious "International Diana Award" for her work as an active campaigner. This award was instituted as a legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales’ in support of her belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better. It is presented to inspirational or socially active young people who have made a positive difference to the lives of others and their communities.
The award recognized her work at an international level in empowering young people in creating a sustainable future. As the Youth Ambassador of World Future Council she advocates the rights of Future Generations. She is also the Former Global Coordinator for Children and Youth at UNEP being the youngest person and the only minor in the world to hold this position. She founded her own youth organisation, Green Hope UAE, which provides a platform to young people to engage in sustainable development. She conducts workshops, known as environment academies, wherein she trains young people to deliver presentations on various aspect of sustainable development to their peers. She also works with local and government agencies, conducting ground level community action projects on waste management, sustainable consumption, reducing carbon footprint, social upliftment, mitigating climate change and future justice. She is an internationally recognized advocate for gender equality and children’s right to education.
Earlier this year , Kehkashan received the prestigious Non-Resident of the Year award . She has also received the 2015 Solar Pioneer Award and the Ambassador of the Environment from GESS UK.
