Ministry of Environment and Water to organize 4,000 training hours for its staff during H2 2015

United Arab Emirates, July 30, 2015 – The Ministry of Environment and Water has organized 59 training courses for its employees across all levels as part of the Ministry's strategic initiative to revitalize, empower and motivate its staff. Following the initial stage held in the first half of 2015, which garnered the participation of 321 employees, the program was launched to develop the staff’s professional skills, increase their efficiency and improve the quality of services being provided in order to effectively meet the Ministry’s objectives.
H. E. Ghanem Al Shamsi, Acting Undersecretary for Support Services, Ministry of Environment and Water, said that the courses were developed following the memorandum on the federal government’ staff training and development issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.
He noted that the courses were designed after a competency assessment as well training requirement and job description evaluation. Crucial courses included in the program tackles infrastructure assessment in the event of emergencies, contingency plans and crisis preparation, business continuity management and compliance with international standards like the labor certification standard ISO 22301, comprehensive disaster management, and food security. It also examines the audit and inspection procedures of agricultural installations, procurement and tenders, preparation of silver and bronze leader, introductory financial accounting, narcotic plants, the appointment of a certified auditor to ensure laboratory safety, an overview of parasites that cause animal diseases, as well as health and safety standards for engineers and doctors.
Al Shamsi announced that the Ministry will be organizing a total of 4,000 training hours for employees across all managerial, administrative and executive levels, which will be launched in the second half of the year.
Al Shamsi added that the specialized training programs was organized by the Ministry in collaboration with relevant parties with the aim of cultivating the staff’s leadership skills, critical thinking capabilities, creativity and innovation in line with the core administrative and professional values of the organization. He also noted that the upcoming key courses organized by the Ministry aims to impart knowledge regarding soil less agriculture, the technical assets to review draft laws and amendments, anti-integrated agricultural pests, financial accounting, non-financial managers, etiquette, protocol and communication skills, insect quarantine, organic farming among other key topics, in order to help realize the Ministry’s vision.
