Dubai, United Arab Emirates, July 30, 2015: Green Hope UAE, an active youth organization, headed by Kehkashan Basu, distributed eatables among the Al Tamimi Engineering’s labor camp in Dubai. The organization’s mission is to work towards for sustainable development and social upliftment. The members of Green Hope UAE bought gift packs, using their savings and allowances.
Since her return from UN’s High Level Political Forum in New York City, Kehkashan Basu has been striving to support the UN Millennium Development Goals set by the UN, through Green Hope initiatives. On this subject, Kehkashan adds, “The weekend is a great time to unwind and spend time with friends and family. However, there are many who live and work far away from their loved ones and even the most festive occasions are just another day of routine for them. As a youth organization, we feel that we, the ‘Future Generations’ have a defining role to play in creating a sustainable future free from poverty, disease and inequality. Green Hope has now grown internationally to over 1000 members and our constant endeavor is to engage civil society to promote sustainable consumption so that our planet's finite resources can be utilized for the benefit of all. The post 2015 agenda must be able to realize a life of dignity for all and this is our goal. Their smiles and gratitude were the best presents that we could have received. What we did was a small effort that brought workers so much cheer.”
Panache International, a leading disposable giant in the region, highlighted the issue of sustainability by distributing the food in bio-degradable disposables. Green Hope UAE visited Al Tamimi Engineering’s labor camp in Jebel Ali where the giveaway food bowls were handed out to the delighted workers, explaining them, to replace plastic with use eco-friendly disposables such as those by Panache International. All together, the efforts were able to reach out to over 140 workers.
Vishaal Shah, CEO of Panache International, highlights the importance of giving back, “We were very delighted to participate in the food distribution drive organized by the youth from Green Hope UAE. Keeping in mind the ongoing issues of sustainability we decided to participate with Panache’s biodegradable disposables, since it was befitting to the many causes that both Panache International and Green Hope support. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we would be extremely pleased to support Green Hope UAE with their upcoming initiatives such as these.”
Green Hope UAE expresses its heartfelt gratitude Panache International for their constant support in this noble venture.
